Why Poetry?
Poetry is the oldest form of literature.
Even when you don’t fully understand it, it can still impose itself upon you — it resonates and touches you deeply. Moreover, poetry is free; it activates the imagination and blends the dreamlike with the real.
In much the same way, children — especially at very young ages — perceive the world around them and acquire language and speech, moving gradually from the symbolic to the real world.
Thus, poetry becomes the ideal vehicle for introducing them to a “Brave New World.”
