Biography

Artika is a company that creates performances for all ages, working primarily with devised theatre, but also using different artistic languages with emphasis on music, movement and speech.
From the very beginning Artika developed a special interest on theatre for very young audiences, considering early years as equally important, if not more, as any other period in our lives.
The performances for these ages are meant not only to entertain or educate young people but, and above all, to offer them the opportunity to get in contact with the art of theatre, believing in its power and impact on intellect, emotion and
imagination.
Artika also creates and facilitates various educational and artistic experiential workshos. In this capacity, during 2022 begun its collaboration with the Department of Theater Studies of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in
the context of creating and presenting, courses, workshops, conferences and other activities on theatre and education for ages 0-6 years old.
Being an Athens based company, in Greece, from the beginning, Artika considered important and aimed at presenting its work abroad. It is a member of Small Size Network and of the larger scale European Program “Mapping – a map on the
aesthetics of performing arts for early years», Creative Europe 2018-2022, while company’s performances have been touring in international festivals since 2008.
On May 2023, Artika, wanting to introduce foreign artists and their various approaches on theatre for early years to the Greek audience, organized for the first time in Greece the 1st International Theater and Performative Arts Festival for Young
Audiences 0-6, “Ap’ tin Archi (From the Beginning)”, aiming to become a biennial event.
Artika’s members, who are coming from and combine different artistic fields, are:
